Topic: Australian Unit- "The Land"

Stage 2 are learning about geography, flora, fauna and icons of the Australian environment.

Syllabus Outcomes:

ENS2.5 Describes places in the local area and other parts of Australia and explains their significance.
ENS2.6 Describes people's interactions with environments and identifies responsible ways of interacting with environments.

CUS2.3 Explains how shared customs, symbols, languages and traditions in communities contribute to Australian and community identities.

Indicators:

• locates and names the capital city of Australia and of each State/Territory, and major regional centers.
• locates and maps cities, rivers and mountains and uses locational terminology such as north, south, east, west.
• evaluates the necessity of caring for and conserving a feature, site or place.
• gives some reasons why their local community is different to others and why it is of value and should be respected.
